Sequence of Lesson: Beginning – Middle – End
Methods of Instruction
Read the book to the students, have the students write out a script to retell the storybook by movie.
Beginning of Lesson (connection between anticipatory set and new lesson/ learning – setting purpose)
1. The teacher will introduce the project to the class: by asking who here likes to watch movies? Who here has ever wanted to be in a movie? Well I am giving you the chance to do that. We will be making movies in here this week. 2. The teacher will remind the students that they just got done reading the book The Old Lady Who Swallowed The Fly and that’s what the movies will be about. 3. The teacher will inform the students they can do this any way they would like. As long as the finished product is a movie. At this point the teacher will show the students an example of a movie to get the students minds working on what they may want to do in this project.
Middle of Lesson (connection to previous lessons/ new lesson/ learning- information)
1. Now that the teacher has shown the students an example of a movie that can be done. The teacher informs the student that before a movie can be recorded there has to be a script. And explains to the class what a script is. “A script is what the movie is all about. It tells the person who is making the movie what exactly needs to be in the movie. 2. The teacher instructs to the students that we will have to make a script for our movies. So grab your notebooks and a pencil. And write your name on the top. Along with the title of what your movie will be called. 3. The teacher says now that you have your title it’s time to write down what the script to your movie, (now remember the script is what the movie is all about. So if you can remember what the storybook was about you should be able to get this done quickly). 4. Once you have your script written out you need to draw pictures of how you want each scene to be recorded. Kind of like the book was. Every page had a different thing happening. That’s how a movie is made.
End of Lesson (Conclusion – connection to future lessons/ learning and recap of learning)
1. The students will wrap up writing their scripts and start to move into recording their movies students will get help from other students in the class along with help from the teacher to make their movies. The student whose movie it is will direct the movie and the teacher will record what the student has planned. 2. After every students video has be recorded the teacher will put all of the movies together. 3. When all the movies are completed the class will watch the movies together. Each student will introduce their movie before it starts watch them together.
